I'm guilty of neglecting this blog of mine. Not that I'm very busy, its just that I have nothing to blog about.

What about life? Living a Singaporean life is fast becoming dull and predictable. The first 25 years of our life is spent studying and the rest working until we retire.

So what's new then? School has started, I just got back all my test results. Sad to say, I failed one and pass the rest. I didn't quite meet my target which was to pass all my subjects. 2 of the subjects I scored pretty well, the rest is just adequate passing marks. I got to buck up, passing all except one is not an achievement. Not for me anyways, I must get atleast 4 out of 6 above the B grade. I only managed 2 subjects above B.

Besides school, life is in order I guess. A few bumps along the way and etc. Tomorrow I might be going to school even though its the weekends. I think I have to start revising. Not the 'revision'
that I normally do, I'm going to do what I did during my 'O' level. Maybe not to that extent but the effort put in will be somewhere there, just a couple of notches lower.

when listening becomes a chore

Some people say I can read minds. I can't. Other people say I always predict what is going to happen exactly. I don't. If I may say so myself, I'm just good in noticing the little things that other people missed because their ,minds is so full of stuffs.

People nowadays listen with half their minds wandering elsewhere. Who can blame us when we live in a world where multi-tasking is a must.

When free time is getting harder and harder to find in between managing job and family or doing some school paperwork with a nagging boyfriend/girlfriend, people just stopped listening. Because the easiness we think this skill is obtain, because we are tired, because we have lots to do, we forget that people need others to listen to them.

Life is waiting

I sometimes wonder what makes her tick? What's going on in that mind of her's. Each time I thought I had her figured out, she surprises me with her witty antics. I guess that's what makes it so interesting.

Please understand, sometimes I can't choose what I work on. I can't follow through on a line of thinking just because I want to or because it's needed. I have to work on what's in my head. And right now, this is what's in my head

Life isn't complicating at all, in fact it is quite simple. We start off as a baby and grow till we become adults, live till a ripe old age and then die. Well with exception to a few, they die prematurely. So what makes us feel that life is complicated? Life is difficult?

The answer is us. We make our own life difficult. Something that is so simple, we make it look like its so difficult.

It's the in-between life that is complicated. Our decisions, choices, acts. Being human, we all make mistakes. Being human, we also find it difficult to learn from our mistakes. Hence we repeat them again and again. And the best part, we don't even realise it.

I come to realise that every problems that I or some of my friends have shared to me are actually quite similar. They are similar in a sense that the source of the problem is the same. Most problem seems different based on the situation.

However, not all complications in life is a bad thing. Believe it or not, it is easier to remember the times when life just sucks compared to the days when everything is going smoothly. Just like it is easier for us to notice the bad traits of people rather than the good in them.

love don't cost a thing

Myth: Being romantic is expensive.

Truth: romance need not be expensive if you are creative (even just a little).

It's pretty easy to be romantic when you have a couple hundred dollars or more to throw around on lavish gifts, surprise trips, or a personal shopper (to give that personal touch to an otherwise impersonal financial display of romance). The fact of the matter is, however, that most of us do not (yet) have that kind of money to throw around. Does this mean that all romance must be lost on the less financially secure masses? I think not.

A bit of imagination and some minimal funding may be all that's necessary to make your significant other's heart melt. A picnic in the park (or even in your living room, for that matter, if it's a rainy day). A post-it note on her pillow. A surprise visit to the office (if you are fortunate enough to work that close together). An email or text message (two modern-day love-letters). make her a present. Or even taking the time to cook a meal together.

None of these ideas is novel, and there are many more ideas out there. What people tend to do is get caught up in the annoyances of everyday life and they start to think that there is no time to be romantic with everything else they have to do. Or maybe they feel like because they don't have enough money to whisk you away for a long weekend on some secluded island beach, that all romance is out of reach. Not so. People forget to find romance in the little gestures in life. It may not require hours of pre-planning or cost a lot of money, but a simple romantic gesture can go a long way towards making your special someone feel like the apple of your eye.

As usual, I feel the need to qualify my previous statements. Just because you can be romantic without having to sell an organ or appendage, does not mean you should not throw a few extra bucks into the fray (if you have it to spend). A picnic in the park under clear blue skies is nice, but so is a charm bracelet from tiffany's in that signature robin's egg blue box.

If you've got the money, spend it. But remember, we would rather see you take a bit of creative license and maintain your financial security than break the bank on some over-the-top, grand romantic gesture.

Do you remember the times when everything is so simple?

I realise that in life, the amount of effort we put in to do something does not matter. What matters most is the result. Like studies for example; Even though we put in so much effort in revising, if the end result is a fail, then we are indeed a failure. There's no consolation for effort. Sure putting in effort is a good thing, but it is to no avail if the amount of effort we put in does not tally with our results.

People are not going to vindicate someone who does not put in effort in his studies yet is still able to pass. They are going to be surprised at his results. Nowadays, people are more concerned about result. They do not care how it is done, all they care about is the quality of the work that is done.

Take the 'O' Level as another example. I admit, if my results were to be judged based on the effort I put in revising my work, I will definitely get a F9. Laziness is a habit and as the saying goes; 'Old habits die hard'. My parents say things like 'break the ice' or 'stop idle around and do something' to help me break this habit of mine. But as time goes by, I realise that laziness is not a habit. Its more like character. And instead of breaking this 'character', I decided on living with it. So everything that I plan, I made sure that no matter how lazy I am, given that moment I will be able to accomplish it.

Like revising for example; a person who is lazy will only revise about an hour each day maximum and that might be little to most people but for people like me, it is a lot of time spent on studying. So, I set a criteria for myself. If a normal person who study for 3 hours each day is able to cover up 3 topics, hence by hook or by crook, during that one hour I will cover 3 topics and understand it too. Of course I usually fail to meet my criteria, always I'm short by a chapter and a half but atleast I made progress, atleast I revised. And that is how I managed to get the result I achieved today.

Its not the amount of effort you put in, its the amount of information that you are able to absorb in that small little brain of ours that counts.

Lying is bad or so we're told constantly. From birth honesty is the best policy. The truth shall set you free. I chop down the cherry tree. Whatever.

The fact is lying is a necessity. We lie to ourselves because the truth, the truth friggin' hurts.

No matter how hard we try to ignore it or deny it. Eventually the lies fall away. Whether we like it or not. But here's the truth about the truth. It hurts. So we lie.

Yesterday's outing was fun. After the test, we head down to Long John Silver at Century Square for a bite. Then we proceed to Plaza Singapura to watch 'Omen'. The show is quite good, very interesting as it dwelves on the 'anti-christ' storyline which is linked to Armageddon. Anyways, the kid's haircut really reminded me of my Biochemistry lecturer. The kid has that kind of face which looks some sort of a nerd yet mischevious look. Ratings wise, its a 3 out of 5.

A bit about yesterday, it was fun. Fun as in great and funny. Norman, Hamdan, Dyana, Rabia and Nuraidah was there. We walked around Plaza Singapura and we sat down at Mcdonalds to chat. Well Rabia and Hamdan wasn't there, we were walking when we lost sight of them. I think they continue window-shopping by themselves. We joked around alot, even in the Cinema.

So the World Cup has started. Opening match was Germany against Costa Rica. In my opinion, Costa Rica defence was really bad hence the 4-2 scoreline. Germany, the right back player was not that good. Both goals that were scored by Costa Rica was actually his fault. He was way behind the centre backs hence they could not implement the offside trap successfully. Costa Rica also had themselves to blame because most of them didn't pass the ball when they could have had. They ended up dribbling on their own which usually results in a lost of possession. Tonight it will be England against Paraguay. England of course is the overwhelming favourites to win, my prediction is a 3-1 scoreline.

Today is the final paper, Biochemistry. After today, 2 weeks break from school. Starting tonight, World Cup!

Today's paper starts at 1.30pm which is why I'm still at home now. After the paper, my friends did make some plans to hang out, most probably at town but I'm not sure what we will be doing. I think we might catch a movie or something.

Things to look forward to during the term break. Late nights, barbeque pits, chilling, going out and maybe, just maybe revise a few of my subjects especially Organic Chemistry. I have to admit I did underestimate Organic Chemistry a little bit because I expected HAP or Biochemistry to be the hardest subject. With that said, I guess you can guess that I might flung my Organic Chemisry test.

4 papers down, 2 to go. Tomorrow is Organic Chemistry and the day after will be Biochemistry. Aside from studies, World Cup is also coming soon. 2 days more and it kick starts the almost everyday of waking up early in the morning to watch the matches. The last World Cup was at Japan hence the timing was not that bad. Matches starts at 4pm so there was no need to wake so early in the morning. This year however, the World Cup is at Europe, Germany. Therefore the timing is different with Asian Countries. Over there in Germany might be afternoon but here in Singapore its just the wee hours of the morning.

On Friday my friends are making some plans of a gathering but its not confirm. Since term test will be over, they suggest a group outing but it remains to be seen. Once its confirm then I will be hype about it. The only outing confirmed is June 17th. Well, atleast its something to look forward to during the 2 weeks break.

Alright then, I can't post too long. I still got topic 3 to cover for Organic Chemisty. Fishcher diagrams is so confusing. Then again, Science is meant to be confusing.

Bear in mind with the current tagboard layout, it is not done. Not that I don't have any ideas, its just that I do not have enough time to really focus on doing it. So I change my blog layout, since I feel that the previous layout is quite old.

Today is an active day. In the morning, I got soccer practice. I was home around 1pm, watch Grey's Anatomy at Star World and then started on my revision for tomorrow's test. However, I didn't start with PIPC. I went on with Organic Chemistry instead. After about half an hour of understanding stereochemistry, I move on to PIPC. The only difficult part about PIPC is calculating the moles, molecular number and limiting reactants. But once I get the jist of it, I have no problems with the calculation.

So I revised until 3pm, ate my lunch and change my blog layout. At around 4, I started playing games and my aunties arrived at around 5. 5.30 pm I head out for Badminton and finished at around 7.15. I realised that after playing soccer in the morning, I do not feel tired at all while playing badminton. Of course there's the occasional deep breath and sweat but I never felt dead tired. I was able to move alot around the court. Unlike yesterday when I get tired after about an hour of playing.

The world around us tend to judge us not by who we are, but by how we present ourselves. A guy might look like a gangster but that doesn't mean he is one. Yet by the eyes of the public, we perceive that he is a gangster. I can call it something like 'labelling' an individual. We judge the person even before trying to get to know him. The idiom; 'Don't judge a book by its cover' is widely used around the world. In school, many of us use it. However, even those who use it tend to judge people by their looks. They may not realise it but that's how the world moves.

And if we were to judge that person, do we judge him based on his capabilities or by the standards that is set by society. If a person has Attention Deficiency Hyperactive Disorder, meaning he can't keep still and tend to seek attention, how do we judge him? Of course we can't tell whether a person is suffering from ADHD, everyone don't go walking with a paper stamped at their foreheads telling people what kind of disorder they are diagnosed with. With that said, a person with ADHD will certainly be a black sheep among society. Hence, they are more likely to be judged negatively by society. However, if people learn about his disorder, I'm sure their mindset will change. They will understand his situation and will judge him differently.

I was supposed to be going through HAP notes today. I ended up finding facts about a particular disease known as Adrenoleukodystrophy(ADL). I watched Lorenzo's oil at star movies this afternoon and its quite interesting. Hence, I looked for more info at the internet regarding the disease. At a time like this, I should not be doing that but when interest kicks in, anything important just goes flying out of the window.

Term test is next week, and I'm not prepared for most of my subjects. CSAS I did not touch on it, I will touch on it only on Monday. I guess you can call it a one day revision kind of thing. PIPC, all I'm lacking is just practice. Same thing can be said for Maths and Stats. Organic Chemistry and HAP are 2 of my biggest worry. Biochemistry is just okay, not yet convinced that I will pass the subject yet. Bear in mind that I am not aiming on scoring for any of the subjects. Out of 100, if I get 60 for every subject, I will be happy.

A bit of info on the quiz, I pass all except for Organic Chemistry. Too many careless mistakes I made hence I'm a bit frustrated about it. Although many people failed the subject, I don't intend to be one of them in the future. Hence, I'm going to work out on my carelessness. No more missing any '-' when writing chemical names using IUPAC, making stupid errors and etc.

Life outside school. Nothing much that is worth blogging about. Well, there are a few but I'm not going to blog about it. Somethings is best kept a secret.
