learn to listen, listen to learn
It annoys me when someone knows what's coming and exactly how to avoid it, after hearing other's stories of the exact same predicament. It's like, ok, the first people had excuses, they had no idea what was coming.. but if you've heard these people's stories, they've told you exactly what to look out for (in the exact situation you ended up in) and what to do if you think it's going too far, you really don't have much of an excuse.
And when you find out they were right and you do end up feeling a bit hurt.. well, you ignored the people that could help you right from before it even happened. The point is not only to learn from other's mistakes, but to listen to what they have to say about avoiding them. And learn from your own mistakes as well. If not listening was a mistake you made, learn to listen in the future.
Everyone says to forget the past and the bad things, but you need to remember them. Otherwise you'll never learn
