Comforting helps?
I don't know about you people but in my point of view, i don't see the need to comfort those who are either too stressed out or are just suffering some minor breakdowns till they end up crying. Actually, its better if they cry. Really, it does!
Sometimes, crying can be good for one's self. Crying helps to lift off the heavy burden of stress and throw away all the emotions that has been bottled up inside our hearts. Nowadays, there have been alot of people breaking down and crying because they are too stressed out or they are just pushing too hard for the 'O' Levels. As a matter of fact, my sister cried at tuition today.
Probably the students there expected me to comfort her and give her some encouragement to make her feel better while she is crying. After all, i am her brother. However, that is not what i did. I just let her be, let her cry her heart out although she is fasting. Just for your info, muslims aren't allowed to cry while they are fasting. Its been a few months since i noticed it. My sister was too stressed out and the pressure is causing her to breakdown. Maybe she expect too much of herself. Getting 20 points for her prelims is not a bad result. However, she seems unsatisfied and even push herself harder to get better result.
It's not a bad thing to improve one's self but once in a while, she should be taking a break and just relax. But not like me though, who is always taking a break. No doubt she is hardworking, even more than i am. However, hardwork alone is not enough. She is hardworking, but if she can't even understand what she is revising, than what use is it to revise your studies for a whole day? You will end up wasting one whole day. I told her repeatedly, what matters most is how well you manage to absorb the facts into your brain. Not the number of hours you spent studying.
But anyways, i'm pretty sure some of the girls faces at tuition was showing a bit of a shocking expression just now. I just feel that it is better for her to pour her feelings out and no longer have any bottled feelings in her heart. That way, she will be able to focus better. If i were to comfort her, it will only be a momentarily relief. By the end of the day, she will still feel stressed out. It's not like i don't care, i do care about my siblings. I may agree that my methods might be harsh or rude, but i'm just being practical. No point pampering 16 year olds..
After all, all brothers love and care their siblings. It's just the way they show it that differs. As for me, i don't show it all the time. But whatever i do or decide for my siblings, i always have their interest at heart. I put them first before me, although i will never admit it.
Hell, that's just me...
