Recent Happenings
Since its juz my 2nd entry, i would like to tell you bout the recent happenings in my life. Starting with the Siglap Nusantara Orchestra(SNO) Solo Concert which was held on the 31st december 2004. The SNO is my CCA which i joined since the start of my secondary school life. Basically, the SNO is a musical orchestra consisting of the Angklung, Kulintang and the Gamelan Ensemble. We are the first to have such an orchestra assembled in this manner so im kinda proud to be part of it. Niwaes, prior to the concert, we had a 3 daes 2 nite camp in school. Its kinda fun but very tiring. I play the gendang so my hands was kinda swollen after the camp. When performance dae comes, i was all ready to play. Guess my hands has become ' season' with all the practices. On that dae, there's 2 performance. The afternoon show started at 16.30pm. We played at the Tampines East CC auditorium. It was 4/5 full during the afternoon show, but the nite show was a full house. We played really well, i was extremely happy cos all the hardwork had paid off.
Next off was the Cest La Vie 3 concert. Every 2 years, my school will have a Cest La Vie concert once. Its kinda like preparing the performing arts group for the SYF. The concert was held at Nanyang Poly Auditorium on the 29th of January 2005. All the performing arts like the band, choir dance and wushu were performing. The guest of honour was Admiral Teo Chee Hean. I've seen him in person bout 3 times cos the SNO has played for him a couple of times before this concert. The matinee show went very well, the only downpoint was the audience. They were so boring, only applause was heard. There was no cheers, no shouting. Juz plain old claps. The nite show on the other hand was a total blast. The audience was great, they cheered, clap and even shouted my name!!! Guess the audience were mainly frm the upper sec, and they usually dun care bout any concert etiquette, WAY TO GO!!!
During the interval, i was choosen wif Shireen to represent the SNO to mingle with the crowd, particularly the VIP's and Admiral Teo. He questioned me bout the SNO, like how long i 've been here n all. The VIP's asked me bout the instruments and how the song is played. Well, the answer is reallie simple... We couldn't have done it without the teachings of our beloved instructor, Mr. Khamis. Hahahahx, its true thou. He's been a big influence in my life and the way he arranged the songs is just so intriguing. Sometimes, i myself try to imagine how he does it. Always getting the rite chords, and the type of playing.
After the concert, the instruments were send back to our school at the very same nite. I was tired and dead beat. When all the instruments were packed, i went to kopitiam wif my frens to eat. We talked bout the concert and the memories that will certainly be remembered throughout the concert. Its reallie a memory which i wont forget and i am now looking forward to the SYF 2005 which will be held in April ltr tis year. Alritey then, il stop here for now.
